She is finally here!! Willow Ann Mortensen:

Me after pushing for more than 2 hours!! I am such a hottie!

Her Story:

I went to the doctor on Friday, October 7th (2 days after my due date). The doctor was so funny and he wanted her to come. He scheduled me to be induced the next day. I was shocked, scared and super excited all at the same time.I went to work and announced to everyone and my anxiety went though the roof because of the unknown.

We woke up the next day at 6:00 a.m. (when I say that I woke up, I mean I just rolled out of bed- like I slept). We called the hospital to make sure they had enough rooms for me to be induced and the nurse said that the storm that came though but a lot of women into labor and I will have to call back at 9:30. So Matt and I went back to sleep. I woke up at 8:00 to go to the bathroom and I thought that my water broke. So be called the hospital and they were kind of annoyed until I told them that my water broke. Matt and I packed up all our stuff and drove to St. Mark's Hospital. I was having contractions pretty bad by the time we got to the hospital. We have to be registered to be admitted to the hospital so we went to this office, and the lady was talking on the phone and just taking her time. Finally, we got her attention and told her that I was in labor and things went really fast after that!

I got to my room and they wanted me to change into the gown. I could not figure out how to put the gown on for the life of me so I asked Matt for help and he just laughed for 15 minutes because it was so complicated- haha that really eased the tension. The nurse checked me out and gave the go ahead for an epidural. They had to administer the epidural twice because of a blood vessel in the way. It really wasn't that bad and it was totally worth it! My legs went numb and I didn't feel a thing except pressure so I could still feel when I had a contraction. Matt was starving so he went and go some pizza with Bill and Trent. While he was gone, the nurse checked me and told me that I was at a 8.5 cm! I told Matt to hurry back! About 30 minutes later I was at a 10 and it was time!

After over 2 hours of pushing she came! She was so so so beautiful. She was not slimy or bruised, she was perfect! She didn't even cry once! She was born at 4:17 p.m. She weighed 7 pounds and she was 19 inches long. They pocked and proded her and she didn't make a sound. She is the most peacefully baby ever.

We had to stay in hospital a little bit longer than we thought because Willow was dehydrated. She kept falling asleep when I nursed her and we couldn't wake her up!

First Baby Shower!

Matt's super cute aunt lives in California and she desperately wanted to throw us a shower. A few weeks ago we found 10 packages in our mailbox!! She sent us the shower! She is so cute. Last night we got 3 more packages and I will post pictures of them soon! So so so so fun. This is making everything so real. I am so excited.

So I finally did it! I have registered my new business! It is called Happy Stitches. For right now I am focusing on making and selling car seat covers. I am also working on Baby Kits that include matching car seat cover, quilt, burp clothes, diaper/wipes cover, and tissue covers. These are great gifts for baby showers!

My friend gave me two full boxes of neckties to quilt with. I decided that I really didn't love the quilt idea, but I did look online and found some great ideas!

I found a skirt pattern. See my progress:

I also made a headband with a necktie flower. Yes, everything is made from a tie except the button! So so so so so much fun!

Best Prank Ever!

It has taken a while for me to post this, but I think it is so funny.

Once upon a time, I was a very innocent, quiet and great employee. Till one day my boss, who is a very big, loud guy continued to sneak around corners and pop out and scare me. He did is often enough that I thought it was time that he get a taste of his own medicine!

I had a slew of fake computer mice and decided that this was the perfect time to use them! Every morning for 3 months I replaced his real computer mouse with the fake one.

My boss was blaming all these people for doing it (I am so innocent that he didn't even think that it could be me). One day he went into this guy's office and threw the mouse at him and said, "It was funny the first time!" I had to go outside and laugh, I was dying!

One day he was telling me about the prank and was getting really irritated about the whole situation. This is what he said, "I have been walking across the company to throwing them away so they won't come back, I have been cutting them up, I have tried everything to get rid of these things and they just keep coming back!"

I decided that it was time to take the prank to the next level hehehe! I went to work early and snuck into his office. I put a sticky note under his real mouse that covered the red laser light making it so that the mouse wouldn't work. I taped the edges down so it would not snag on anything and it would take him a while to figure out what was wrong.

Comes to find out that he got there that morning and his mouse was not working. He restarted his computer, unplugged his mouse, restarted the computer again, unplugged the mouse again, and was about ready to call IT to come fix his computer. He finally looked under his mouse and found it. Without any thought he marched out of his office and went blaming everyone he could think of (not me of course).

Later on that week I was talking with my boss and telling him what a sales rep said to me. My boss just lite up and got really excited and said that I needed to get him back and he had just the perfect way to do it. He took me into his office and showed me if I put a sticky note of the bottom of the mouse, it wouldn't work! He explained the taping the edges down and everything. I was dying inside, but kept my cool. I asked questions like, "Oh really? Why would I do that? What is the tape for?" It was so great! He taught me my own trick.

So I stopped replacing his mouse for a few months and did it every once in a while. It was top secret for a year! When I found a new job I though it was a good time to tell my boss who was responsible for annoying him for a year! Take a look.................

New Jobs For All!

Matt and I are now employed! Both of us will be working for Western Governors University. Matt will start his new job March 10! I have worked there for over two weeks. Matt will be an Enrollment Counselor and I am in the marketing department. We love the concept of the school and feel that this will be a great move for both of us. We are really excited to carpool and eat lunch together!

To celebrate our one year anniversary, Matt and I went on a cruise to Mexico! We had so much fun!

Matt and I went to a turtle farm when we were in the Cayman Islands and it was the coolest thing! We even were able to hold the turtles!

We also went to Hell and back- literally!I guess I was ok with it, but Matt on the other hand........

was so disapointed!

In Cozmel Mexico we rented a scooter (which we forgot to take pictures of so so so sad) and went to this beach with super fun water toys and we played all day having a ball!

We (Matt, Trent, and Laura) went to Moab last weekend and it was so much fun! We hiked the Fiery Furnace for two days trying to find our way through the maze (without a map). It was a great challenge and it was a lot of fun. We also found a pretty sweet campsite! And the best part was the campfire!

New Jobs

Career Step

Matt and I both have new jobs! Matt has actually been working for Career Step in Springville, Utah (South of Provo) for over a month now and he really loves it! Career step is a medical transcription training center and Matt deals with all the big companies and tries to make sure that the companies hire their students. I am so glad that he has a job that he actually likes and it isn't dangerous. Oh the best part is that he does not have to do work at home!

My last day at RC Willey was on Friday. I had mixed feelings about the whole thing, but I think that it is a good thing to be moving on. It was really hard to say goodbye to co-workers but I am only a block away from them so it will be ok we can still do lunch and I am sure that Michelle and I can still play speed every once in a while! I now work at a company called QSI. They build HMI and GPS systems for huge industries. They build touch screens for pretty much everything. I went and trained there for two days and it is pretty cool. They have a really laid back culture, it is casual dress and you can bring your dog to work (I have mixed feelings about this one, but it is kind of fun), they also have a on-site personal trainer! I am super excited about that- I need to get back into shape. I will be working in their marketing department which is a change, but I think it is a good change- maybe people will like me now that I am out of HR! We will see.

Halloween

Michelle and I were the only cool people in our department to dress up for Halloween! We have come to the conclusion that everyone (even children) hate HR people! RC Willey lets little kids come and trick-or-treat there during the day and in all the other departments they had a ton of kids come through, they even ran out of candy. Well, 15 kids came to the HR Department! Michelle and I were so sad and we even tried to play cool Halloween music to lure them in, it didn't work! Oh well, we still had fun dressing up!

Matt and I were so excited for trick-or-treaters to come to our house for the first time, and that was another disappointment! We had three knocks on our door and one of them were teenagers that didn't even dress up- but we were just excited that they knocked on our door that we still gave them candy! hehe. We did have our neighbor come over and he has the cutest little boy and a bunch of girls. The girls were dressed as princesses and he was an army man and he made sure that we knew that he was not a princess! It was so cute, that was the highlight of our night!

Fun with family

So we had family fun at Aunt Laura's house! Mom and Kit and Hannah and the boys came down.

So I spent all day on Saturday making capes for these little guys- Look how cute they are! They were so excited about them and they were flying around like little super heros! So cute!

We went costume shopping while they were here. Look at how cute they are- Matt and I were dying when we saw Alex, he is so cute! Donovan is a ninja- so tough.

Mom brought at least 10 pumpins and the kids loved to roll them all over my house- it was very enteraining for them! So funny.

Buddy Mondlock

Teaching Hannah how to Machine Quilt

This weekend was a big weekend! Hannah came to our house to learn how to machine quilt. She made a quilt for Alex and needed it to be quilted. Hannah was a great learner and she found that it was a bunch of fun and super easy! Hannah has always been a very competitive and she was just the same with quilting- every time I walked by the room the sewing machine was going so fast that I thought it was going to fall off the table! She just wanted it done fast- I am surprised she had control! hehe Look how cute it is! Alex loves it! Great job Hannah!

I have been working on our wedding quilt for over 4 months and I finally made some progress! I got the top of the quilt all pieced together! I still need to sew on the boarder and quilt it but I am just so proud of myself. I had to add a bunch of rows because our bed is so high I needed to cover the mattresses. I now have the challenge of figuring out the design to do the quilting- I wanted to do something decorative but I think with this pattern I have to just follow the lines, what do you think?

We are the coolest aunt and uncle! For Olivia's birthday we gave her a sleep-over extravaganza! We first went swimming, then dinner, then painted a picture frame and while it dried we sewed a hot pad, then we watched a movie, and finally went to sleep. It was so much fun and we are winning the favorite aunt and uncle contest hehe!
